I'm not going to re-invent the wheel here. There are lots of free and not-so-free instructions available about how to do any of the basic six techniques (cast on, knit, purl, cast off, increase, and decrease). Some are instuctions better than others yesterday I gave you my best advice, which is to buy "The Knitter's Companion" (see previous post). But if you don't want to or can't for some reason, then below you will find links to free resources with instructions on all or some of the basic six. This is by no means a complete list of the instructions that are available on these techniques, but I think they are pretty darn good free resources. So if you have any questions about your basic six techniques here's where to look:
Making a slip knot and Long-Tail Cast on
Knit, Purl, and Bind Off
Increase and Decrease
We'll start digging into what you need to understand about the Basic Six tomorrow.
I really like www.knittinghelp.com for help, they have videos too! I did look at the Knitters Companion at Barnes and Noble yesterday, looks really good. I'll have to get it when I get a chance!
I really believe it's worth your money. It's a great resource and considering you'll probably use it for the rest of your life, it's definately a value. At the very leas you can add it to that amazon wish list.
